Hydraulic gate motors use oil pressure rather than gears to move the gate. They're smooth, strong and well suited to heavy, large or busy gates, and you'll find plenty of them on country houses and commercial sites around Cumbria.
Hydraulic repairs and servicing
We service and repair hydraulic gate motors from the major brands, including FAAC, BFT and SEA. Common jobs are:
- Oil leaks from rams and seals
- Loss of pressure, so the gate moves slowly or stops part way
- Valve and release problems, where the gate won't lock or won't release by hand
- Control board faults after storms or water getting in
Heavy-duty automation for new installations
For new installations we fit CAME automation, including heavy-duty motors for big, heavy or busy gates. We size the motor to the gate's weight, width and how often it's used, so it isn't working at its limit.
Is hydraulic right for you?
If you already have hydraulic motors that are working well, it's usually best to keep them serviced. If they're old and parts are hard to find, we'll talk you through the options – see repair or replace?

Questions people ask me
Can you repair hydraulic gate motors?
Yes – FAAC, BFT, SEA and other major brands.
Are hydraulic motors better for heavy gates?
They're very good on heavy gates, but modern heavy-duty electromechanical motors do the job well too. We'll recommend what suits your gate.
How often should hydraulic motors be serviced?
At least once a year, and more often on busy commercial gates.
